Five Kurds, including a 17-year-old teen, killed by direct gunfire from Iranian forces in Tehran

Iranian government forces killed at least five Kurdish protesters, including a 17-year-old, by direct gunfire during demonstrations in Tehran. The victims have been identified as Alireza Seidi, Borhan Seidi, Salam Mirani, Ebrahim Ahmadpourian, and Mohammad Zamani.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Alireza Seidi, a 17-year-old originally from Abdanan, Ilam Province, who was residing in Tehran, was shot dead by government forces on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026.
Alireza Seidi was buried on Sunday, January 11, in his hometown of Abdanan, where a large crowd gathered for his funeral. Witnesses reported that mourners chanted anti-government slogans, including “Death to the dictator.”According to informed sources, government forces violently broke up the funeral and opened direct fire, leaving several people injured.
During the same protests, Salam Mirani, 50, a married father of two, originally from the village of Cheshmider in the Sarvabad region and residing in Qods, was killed by direct gunfire from government forces.
Hengaw sources confirmed that his body has been handed over to his family.
Ebrahim Ahmadpourian, originally from the village of Sheykhaleh in Saqqez and a resident of Tehran’s Farhangsara area, was also killed by government gunfire during the protests.
Mohammad Zamani, a married father of two from Ivan in Ilam Province and a resident of Tehran, was likewise shot dead during the same protests.
Borhan Seidi, a young Kurdish man from the village of Yengijeh in Salmas County, was also killed during the protests on January 8. Hengaw has learned that he worked as a laborer in Tehran.
Footages obtained by Hengaw show that during the protests, Iranian government forces used extreme violence and live ammunition against demonstrators in Tehran, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.
Hengaw has previously documented that Iranian military and security forces have carried out extrajudicial killings of civilians during the recent crackdown in Tehran, including the systematic use of live ammunition against unarmed protesters.
In a video previously published by Hengaw, dozens of bodies can be seen inside a hangar at the Kahrizak morgue, with families searching among the corpses for their loved ones. Informed sources told Hengaw that the morgue has become severely overcrowded, with bodies stored in cold-storage facilities, underscoring the scale and severity of the recent crackdown.
