Iran arrests two teachers in Tehran and Gilan; whereabouts unknown

Two teachers, identified as Mahmoud Sediqipour and Nariman Seraj, have been arrested by Iranian government forces in Tehran and Gilan Province and transferred to undisclosed locations.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mahmoud Sediqipour, a member of the Gilan Teachers’ Trade Association, was arrested on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, after government intelligence forces raided his workplace and took him into custody. He was subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location, and no details have been released about his condition or place of detention.

In a separate case, Nariman Seraj, a 31-year-old English language instructor from Tehran, was arrested during protests in the Tehransar district of the capital on January 7, 2026. Since his arrest, no confirmed information has been made available regarding his whereabouts or legal status.

No official details have been published concerning the charges brought against either of the two detained teachers.
