Four university students arrested across three Iranian cities

Four university students have been arrested by Iranian government forces in the cities of Tehran, Yasuj, Mashhad, and Isfahan.

Information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights confirms that one of the students is facing the serious charge of moharebeh (“waging war against God”) and has been denied access to legal counsel.

The wave of arrests targeting students has continued in recent days, and reliable information regarding the fate of several detainees remains unavailable. The details of these cases are as follows:

Tehran

Nima Amiri, a graphic design student at the University of Tehran, was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, February 18, 2026, following a raid by government forces on his home. Informed sources report that officers confiscated all of his electronic devices during the arrest.

Yasuj

Ali Bagheri, a 21-year-old Lor student of computer engineering at Islamic Azad University of Shiraz, was arrested on Monday, February 2, 2026, during a raid on his family home in Yasuj. He was subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.

Mashhad

Najmeh Amini, 23, an accounting student, was arrested on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the Ferdowsi Market area of Mashhad. According to Hengaw’s sources, she was subjected to severe beatings at the time of arrest and later transferred to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. She has been placed under pressure and subjected to torture. Amini is facing the charge of moharebeh and has been denied access to legal representation.

Isfahan

Roya Rastgar, a 33-year-old physical education student, was arrested on Sunday, January 11, 2026, during a raid by government forces on her home in Isfahan. More than one month after her arrest, no information is available regarding her whereabouts or condition. According to reports, government forces confiscated her and her family’s electronic devices. Rastgar is the guardian of her two younger sisters.

Aside from the case of Najmeh Amini, no detailed information has been released regarding the charges, detaining authorities, or exact places of detention of the other students.
