Nine prisoners executed in prisons across Iranian prisons

At least nine prisoners, including two Turkish and two Kurdish inmates, have been executed in Gorgan, Quchan, Ardabil, Tabriz, Qazvin, Kermanshah, and Ahar in recent days. The individuals had previously been sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary on charges including premeditated murder and drug-related offenses.
Hengaw Organization for Human Rughts has confirmed identities of those executed as Iraj Mostafavi, Bakhtiar Shahabi, Hassan Alaeibakhsh, Ali Mohammadpour, Behrouz Hazrati, Peyman Shiri, Naser Hosseini, Mohammad Javad Namdari, and Hashem Abbasi.

Three prisoners from Gorgan — Iraj Mostafavi, 43, Bakhtiar Shahabi, and Hassan Alaeibakhsh, 28 — were executed in Gorgan Central Prison at dawn on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. According to sources, Mostafavi had been convicted about three years ago in a so-called “honor-related” murder case. Alaeibakhsh had been on death row for approximately three years for murder following a street altercation, while Shahabi had been imprisoned for about six years on a similar murder charge.
A Kurdish prisoner identified as Ali Mohammadpour, 44, a resident of Quchan sentenced to death on a murder charge, was executed in Quchan Prison on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, according to Hengaw’s findings.
Executions were also carried out in three other prisons on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Peyman Shiri was executed in Tabriz Prison on drug-related charges. On the same day, Behrouz Hazrati, a Turkish prisoner from Ardabil convicted of premeditated murder, was executed in Ardabil Prison, and Naser Hosseini, from Qazvin, was executed in Qazvin Prison after being sentenced to death on murder charges.
Earlier, a Kurdish prisoner identified as Mohammad Javad Namdari, from Kermanshah, was executed in Kermanshah Central Prison (Diesel Abad) at dawn on Friday, January 30, 2026. He had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.
In a separate case, Hashem Abbasi, a 38-year-old Turkish prisoner from Tabriz and father of one child, was executed in Ahar Prison on the morning of Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after spending around six years on death row for a premeditated murder conviction.
None of these executions have been officially announced by state media or outlets affiliated with the Iranian judiciary.
