Iran arrests four university students in Ilam, Gorgan, and Tehran

At least four students have been arrested by Iranian government forces during recent protest-related crackdowns in Ilam, Gorgan, and Tehran. No information has been released regarding their whereabouts or legal status.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Artin Pariyoush (Dolatabadi), a former aerospace engineering student, was arrested in Tehran by plainclothes agents on January 30, 2026, and transferred to an undisclosed location. More than ten days after his detention, no information has been provided about his place of detention or condition.
Amirreza Dastourani, an undergraduate student of physics and energy engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology and secretary of the university’s Islamic Students Association, was arrested at his home in Tehran on January 27, 2026, when government forces raided the residence. During the arrest, agents confiscated his electronic devices, including his mobile phone and laptop. He has been transferred to an undisclosed location.
Amirhossein Heydari, a Mazani student from Babol residing in Gorgan, was arrested by plainclothes forces outside his home on January 11, 2026. Despite repeated follow-up inquiries by his family with security and judicial bodies, no information has been provided about his fate.
In a separate case, Mohammadmehdi Makan Nemati, a Kurdish student of English literature at Islamic Azad University of Ilam, was arrested in Ilam by IRGC Intelligence forces on January 8, 2026. More than one month after his arrest, no details have been released regarding his condition, charges, or place of detention.
