Hengaw – Wednesday, March 11, 2026

Iranian authorities have ordered armed forces stationed near the Marivan border to open direct fire on civilians who gather in border areas to access telecommunications networks. In a recent incident, a Kurdish civilian identified as Farzin Sasani was shot and wounded by government forces.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Farzin Sasani, a resident of Bardeh Resheh village in Marivan, was injured in recent days after being shot in the leg by government forces while near the border. He had gone to the area to establish phone contact with relatives by connecting to telecommunications networks in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Informed sources state that government forces have abandoned some of their fixed bases and established temporary positions in mountainous areas, where they monitor the movements of local residents living in border regions.

Hengaw has learned that these forces have received orders to pursue and open direct fire on individuals whose movements they consider suspicious, raising serious concerns about the safety of civilians in the area.
