Father of Woman, Life, Freedom protest victim Mehrshad Shahidi detained in Arak

Amir Shahidi, a resident of Arak and the father of Mehrshad Shahidi, one of the young protesters killed during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, has been arrested by Iranian government forces. Six days after his arrest, no information has emerged regarding his fate or whereabouts.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Amir Shahidi was arrested on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Arak and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Informed sources told Hengaw that repeated efforts by Shahidi’s family to obtain information about his situation and whereabouts have so far remained unsuccessful.
Mehrshad Shahidi, a 19-year-old chef and student from Arak, was killed during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests after being struck in the head with batons by Iranian government forces.
The reasons for Amir Shahidi’s arrest and any charges against him remain unknown.
