Hengaw – Sunday, March 15, 2026

Nearly two weeks after the arrest of Ameneh Ghasemzadeh and her 15-year-old son, Aryo Mosharrafi, by Iranian government forces in Savojbolagh County, Alborz Province, no clear information has been released regarding their whereabouts or condition, raising growing concerns about their safety.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ameneh Ghasemzadeh, who works at a clothing production workshop in Nazarabad, and her teenage son Aryo Mosharrafi, 15, remain in detention under uncertain conditions. Security forces arrested Ghasemzadeh at her workplace while detaining her son at their home before transferring both to an undisclosed location.

Informed sources say the arrests took place during the early days of the recent war between Iran, Israel, and the United States.

A source close to the family told Hengaw that the alleged reason for their arrest was “expressing joy over the death of Ali Khamenei.”

Despite repeated inquiries by relatives, authorities have provided no official information regarding the charges, the detainees’ health conditions, or their exact place of detention.

The denial of access to legal counsel and the complete lack of contact with their family raise serious concerns and may constitute enforced disappearance as well as a grave violation of child rights and international human rights standards, placing both detainees at significant risk.
