Iranian authorities arrest mountaineer Kianoush Amini in Borujen

Kianoush Amini, a Lor mountaineer from Borujen, has been violently arrested by Iranian government forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 44-year-old Kianoush Amini was arrested on Thursday, March 20, 2026, after protesting against loud noise and the blocking of streets by Basij forces, who were holding a mourning ceremony marking the death of Ali Khamenei.

Eyewitnesses reported that government forces severely beat Amini during the arrest.

 No information is available regarding his whereabouts or the charges against him.
