Reza Niakan, a 30-year-old Lor man from Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan Province, has been detained by Intelligence Ministry forces and transferred to Khorramabad Central Prison.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, plainclothes officers from the Khorramabad Intelligence Department raided Niakan's home on Friday, July 4, 2026, and arrested him without presenting a warrant.

Hengaw's sources said the officers created an atmosphere of fear and severely beat Niakan, his wife, and their one-year-old child during the arrest. After searching the house, they transferred him to an undisclosed location.

Following his arrest, Niakan was held for seven days in solitary confinement at an Intelligence Ministry detention facility, where he was subjected to intensive interrogation and denied all contact and visits with his family. After the initial interrogation period, he was transferred to the general ward of Khorramabad Central Prison.

Security authorities have opened a case against Niakan on charges including "propaganda against the state" and "inciting people to participate in gatherings." The allegations are reportedly based on his social media activity, including posting critical Instagram Stories, and his participation in the January 2026 protests.
