Hengaw – Sunday, April 5, 2026
Iranian authorities have detained two men in Tehran, Vali Zoghitabar and Mohammad Ebadi. During one of the arrests, Iranian forces opened fire and wounded Ebadi, while Zoghitabar was transferred to an undisclosed location despite being in poor physical condition following recent surgery.
Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that intelligence forces raided the family home of Zoghitabar and arrested him, transferring him to an undisclosed location on Friday, March 29, 2026.
Sources close to the family told Hengaw that Zoghitabar, the father of political prisoner Shahin Zoghitabar, was violently arrested despite having recently undergone two major surgeries and still suffering from untreated injuries.
There is still no precise information about his place of detention or his health condition, which has caused serious concern for his family.
In a separate incident, Ebadi, 34, was arrested during a raid on his family home in Tehran on the evening of Thursday, March 28, 2026. Iranian forces opened fire during the arrest, and he was shot in the hand.
Reports show that after his arrest, he was interrogated for several hours while still injured and questioned about his alleged participation in the December 2025 protests.
After being briefly transferred to a hospital and receiving initial medical treatment, Ebadi was transferred on Saturday, March 29, 2026, to the quarantine ward of Great Tehran Penitentiary.
