Shahram Jamali begins prison term following arrest in Amol

Shahram Jamali, a former detainee of the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement in Mahmoudabad, Mazandaran province, has been arrested to serve his prison sentence and transferred to Amol Central Prison.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Jamali, 47, a father of two from Mahmoudabad, was summoned to Branch 1 of the Criminal Sentences Enforcement Office of the Amol Judiciary on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. He was arrested upon appearing and transferred to Amol Central Prison.
In February 2026, Branch 1 of the Amol Revolutionary Court sentenced Jamali to seven months and 16 days in prison for “propaganda against the state” and three years, six months, and one day for “inciting people to killing with the intent to disrupt security,” along with a two-year travel ban.
Jamali was arrested without a warrant by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence forces at an Amol road police checkpoint on September 16, 2025, while returning from Tehran. He was transferred to the IRGC Intelligence detention facility in Sari and released on October 8, 2025, after posting bail of one billion tomans.
He had also previously been arrested during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in 2022.
