IRGC attacks on PDKI bases kill two women peshmerga and a minor

Two female peshmerga, Neda Miri and Samira Allahyari, along with a 17-year-old civilian, Shahin Azarbarzin, were killed in missile and drone attacks carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeting bases of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) inside the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Two other peshmerga were also seriously wounded.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the attacks were carried out in a coordinated operation on Friday afternoon, April 17, 2026. IRGC forces targeted PDKI positions in the mountainous areas of Khalifan, as well as the Jezhnikan civilian camp, a residential site for families affiliated with the party near Erbil. The strikes involved both missiles and suicide drones.
In the mountainous heights of Alana near Khalifan, two female peshmerga, Neda Miri from Sanandaj (Sine) and Samira Allahyari from Divandarreh, were killed in missile strikes. At the same time, drone attacks on Jezhnikan camp left a peshmerga, Nader Azarbarzin from Piranshahr, seriously injured, while his 17-year-old son, Shahin Azarbarzin, was killed in the same attack. Nader Azarbarzin’s condition has been reported as critical.
Hengaw condemns the targeting of civilian residential areas and families and considers the attack a clear violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region.
