Hengaw – Tuesday, April 21, 2026
Iranian authorities have continued to hold Anwar Ghorbani, a Kurdish civil activist from Kamyaran, incommunicado for 26 days, with no information available about his whereabouts or legal status.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ghorbani has remained in an uncertain situation since his arrest and has been denied phone contact, family visits and access to legal counsel.
A source told Hengaw that Ghorbani was arrested on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, when Intelligence Ministry forces raided his home in Kamyaran without presenting a warrant and used violence during the arrest.
Agents also searched the residence and confiscated several personal belongings, including his mobile phone and books, the source said.
Repeated efforts by Ghorbani’s family to obtain information from security bodies and judicial authorities in Kamyaran and Sanandaj have so far been unsuccessful.
Authorities have not disclosed any charges against him or his place of detention.
