Tehran court sentences sisters Kimia and Tara Davoudi to 16 years in prison

Kimia Davoudi and Tara Davoudi, two sisters from Tehran who were arrested during the January protests and are currently imprisoned in Tehran’s Evin Prison, have been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to 10 and 6 years in prison, respectively.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the verdicts were recently communicated to the two sisters in Evin Prison. Kimia Davoudi was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment, while Tara Davoudi received a 6-year prison sentence.

In the ruling issued against Kimia Davoudi, the charges included “communication with opposition groups and networks” and “assembly and collusion with intent to disrupt national security.” Tara Davoudi was also convicted on charges of “assembly and collusion to act against national security” and “propaganda against the state.”

Tara Davoudi, a former surveying student at the University of Isfahan, and her sister Kimia Davoudi, a former law student at Razi University of Kermanshah (Kermashan), were arrested by Iranian security forces in Tehran on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, during the protests.
