Iranian authorities have executed two prisoners, identified as Behnam Abdi and Sajjad Hosseini, in Qazvin Central Prison in recent days .

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution of Behnam Abdi, a 49-year-old father of two from Qazvin, was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Qazvin Central Prison. He had been arrested around three years ago on drug-related charges and was later sentenced to death.

In a separate case, the death sentence of Sajjad Hosseini, a 28-year-old man from Chahardangeh, Tehran province, was carried out in the same prison at dawn on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Hosseini had been arrested six years earlier on charges of premeditated murder following a street altercation.

Sources told Hengaw that Hosseini had previously been taken to the gallows twice and had received temporary reprieves. However, the execution was ultimately carried out after his family was unable to pay the 9 billion toman blood money demanded by the victim’s family.

The executions of both prisoners have not been officially announced by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.
