Hengaw – Tuesday, May 12, 2026

Tahereh Dehghan, one of the detainees arrested during protests earlier this year in Chenaran, has been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to one year of discretionary imprisonment. She is currently serving the fourth month of her sentence at Mashhad Central Prison (Vakilabad Prison).

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Dehghan was arrested approximately four months ago by Iranian government forces in Chenaran and was later transferred to the women’s ward of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad following interrogation procedures.

Informed sources stated that the charge brought against her was “participation in protests,” on the basis of which the Iranian judiciary sentenced her to one year in prison. Despite the passage of four months since her arrest, she remains deprived of furlough leave.
