Baloch prisoner Davoud Mir dies after delayed medical treatment

Davoud Mir, a 50-year-old Baloch man, died in Zahedan Central Prison after authorities delayed his transfer for urgent medical treatment following a heart attack. He had been detained only three days earlier in connection with ordinary crimes.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mir, a resident of Zahedan originally from Zabol, suffered a heart attack in Ward 7 of Zahedan Central Prison. He died after a delay in being transferred to the prison infirmary and receiving emergency medical care. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The cause of death was reported to be cardiac arrest, with delays in his transfer to the prison infirmary and access to medical treatment cited as contributing factors.
Prison authorities and judicial officials have so far provided no explanation to Mir's family regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
