Karim Raigi, a Baloch prisoner from Zahedan who had been held in prolonged pre-trial detention for four years on drug-related charges, has died in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz following a heart attack and the absence of timely medical intervention.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, 55-year-old Karim Raigi—father of five and a resident of Zahedan—suffered a heart attack while in custody.

Due to the lack of specialized medical staff within the prison and the failure to transfer him promptly to an external medical facility, he died inside Adelabad Prison before receiving any emergency care.

As reported by Haalvsh, Raigi had been arrested four years ago in Neyriz County, Fars Province, by Iranian government forces on drug-related charges. He was transferred to Adelabad Prison, where he remained in the general ward in a state of legal uncertainty. After years in detention without trial, he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Thursday and passed away.
