Amirhossein Saadat arrested following violent raid in Tabriz

Iranian intelligence agents have arrested Amirhossein Saadat, a student activist and former secretary of the Student Council at Allameh Tabataba’i University, during a violent raid in Tabriz.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, agents of the Intelligence Department raided Saadat’s residence in Tabriz in the early hours of Monday, June 1, 2026, and arrested him after subjecting him to severe physical assault. The 34-year-old activist, originally from Abadeh in Fars Province, was detained without the presentation of a judicial warrant and transferred to an undisclosed location.

Informed sources told Hengaw that intelligence agents also searched Saadat’s home, confiscating several personal belongings, including his mobile phone, laptop, and passport.

His current whereabouts, legal status, and any charges against him remain unknown.
