Lor prisoner Saadan Hassani executed in Hamedan after 26 years on death row
Hengaw – Sunday, June 14, 2026
Iranian authorities have executed Saadan Hassani, a Lor prisoner from Chenaran village in Asadabad County, who spent 26 years in prison under a death sentence for murder, in Hamedan Central Prison (Alvand Prison).
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hassani was executed at dawn on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Hengaw has learned that Hassani was arrested 26 years ago on charges of murdering four people and was subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. During his lengthy imprisonment, he spent 12 years in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj before being transferred to Hamedan Central Prison.
Hassani was transferred to a solitary confinement cell in Alvand Prison on February 24, 2025, in preparation for the implementation of his death sentence. The execution was postponed at that time, but after nearly a quarter-century of imprisonment and uncertainty, the sentence was ultimately carried out on Sunday.
Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not announced the execution.
Keeping a prisoner under a death sentence for 26 years while subjecting him to the constant threat of execution constitutes a form of psychological torture, inhuman treatment, and a serious violation of human dignity. The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights condemns both the prolonged death-row imprisonment and the execution of Saadan Hassani as inhumane and contrary to fundamental human rights principles.
