Mona Maleki remains in solitary confinement more than two weeks after arrest

Iranian authorities continue to hold Mona Maleki, a 27-year-old Kurdish woman from Sanandaj (Sine), in solitary confinement at the city's Central Prison more than two weeks after her arrest. Authorities have yet to bring formal charges against her and continue to deny her access to a lawyer of her choosing.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Department forces raided Maleki's family home in Sanandaj on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and arrested her without presenting a warrant.

Following her arrest, Maleki was transferred directly to the solitary confinement cells of the women's ward at Sanandaj Central Prison, officially named the "Sanandaj Correction and Rehabilitation Center." She remains in harsh detention conditions under continuous interrogation and pressure.

Seventeen days after her arrest, Maleki continues to be denied in-person family visits and regular telephone contact with her family.

The reasons for her arrest, the charges against her, and the security authorities' grounds for detaining her remain unknown.
