Iran continues detention of 29 January protesters without trial in Ardabil

At least 29 Turkish individuals arrested during the January 2026 protests remain detained in Ardabil Central Prison without trial or resolution of their legal status.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, several months after their arrests, the detainees have yet to receive a fair hearing, while some have also been denied regular phone calls and family visits.

Informed sources said repeated efforts by their families to secure their temporary release on bail have been met with obstruction and vague responses from security and judicial authorities.

Farhad Jafari, Reza Javid, Mohammadreza Asari, Armin Nadiri, Arian Hamidi, Sina Hassanzadeh, Ali Besharati, Mohammad Jalilalqadr, Faramarz Neshat, Keyvan Baram, Faramarz Taghizadeh, Heshmat Rasouli, Avaz Rastgouyan, Mohammadreza Agah, Reza Mirzadeh, Mehrdad Zoodfekr, Mahyar Pour Ebrahim, Ali Abdollahvand, Mohammad Gholizadeh, Mirmohammad Mohammadi, Mohammad Rahbari, Mohsen Najafi, Ali Nobakht, Meysam Abdollahi, Bahman Zohri, Omid Ganjeh, Alireza Karimi, Ahmad Khodaei, and Meysam Alizadeh.
