Mohammad Hamzehzadeh and Hemin Mehrannia remain detained, whereabouts unknown

Mohammad Hamzehzadeh and Hemin Mehrannia, two Kurdish men from Mahabad, have been detained for nine and 18 days, respectively, with no information about their fate, whereabouts, or health conditions, raising serious concern among their families.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian security forces arrested Hamzehzadeh in Mahabad on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, without presenting a warrant and transferred him to an undisclosed location. Nine days later, he remains denied access to a lawyer, phone calls, and family visits.
Separately, security forces arrested Mehrannia, a 20-year-old from Mahabad, in Urmia on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The reason for his arrest and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Judicial authorities have provided the families with no clear information about the reasons for the arrests, the agencies responsible for their detention, or where the two men are being held.
