Jalal Khodamoradi and Mohsen Hosseinpanahi arrested over strike call

Iranian security forces have arrested two Kurdish men from Sanandaj (Sine), Jalal Khodamoradi and Mohsen Hosseinpanahi, after summoning them in connection with an upcoming general strike. Both were transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khodamoradi, 46, and Hosseinpanahi, 37, were arrested by forces from the Intelligence Department on Monday, September 14, 2026, after reporting to the Public Places Supervision Office in Sanandaj.

Hengaw sources said the two men had been summoned by telephone the previous day and instructed to report to the office to sign written pledges not to participate in the upcoming general strike. They were arrested after complying with the summons.

The arrests and summonses follow a call by the Coalition of Iranian Kurdistan Parties for business owners and shopkeepers to observe a general strike on Wednesday, September 16, marking the anniversary of the state killing of Jina Amini.

Iranian security agencies have been using preventive summonses and arrests to pressure business owners and shopkeepers and deter participation in the strike.

The whereabouts of Khodamoradi and Hosseinpanahi remain unknown, while their families’ efforts to obtain information about their place of detention have been unsuccessful.
