Masoud Farhikhteh sentenced to one year in prison and additional penalties

The Iranian judiciary has sentenced Masoud Farhikhteh, an imprisoned teacher and teachers’ union activist from Karaj, to one year in prison and additional penalties in a new case.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Farhikhteh was sentenced to one year in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the state.”

The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations reported that he was also sentenced to a two-year travel ban, a two-year ban on membership in political parties and political or social organizations, and dismissal from government and public-sector employment.

Farhikhteh had previously been sentenced on appeal to four years, one month, and 17 days in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the state.” Under Iran’s sentence-merging rules, the most severe sentence—three years, six months, and one day—is enforceable.

He was arrested on September 15, 2025, during a general assembly of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations in Shahreza and transferred to Karaj Central Prison to serve his sentence.

During his detention, Farhikhteh has been denied contact and visits with his family, as well as access to medical care. He has also been repeatedly transferred to solitary confinement.
