Hengaw: November 3, 2022

Momen Zandkarimi, 18, was shot at close range by government authorities and subjected to brutal beatings. On November 2, 2022, he died as a result of the severity of his wounds and internal bleeding.

Momen Zandkarimi was shot from behind by Iranian government forces on November 2, 2022, at the Gulshan crossroads in Sanandaj, according to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

Hengaw was informed by a witness to the incident that Momen was violently beaten and repeatedly kicked in the head and face by repressive forces while he was already seriously injured from their gunshot.

The witness added that, while Momin Zandkarimi was critically injured, other individuals took him to their residence.

One of Zandkarimi's relatives explained this to Hengaw, saying: "Momen's physical condition was so terrible that he suffered from an internal hemorrhage and died while being taken to Tawheed Hospital and before reaching the hospital."

The security of Tawheed Hospital asked them to register a medical case against Momen, which his father resisted. Momen's body was buried last night in the village of Macheh Sefali, Sanandaj, under severe security measures, according to Momen's relative, who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons.

Notably, Momen Zandkarimi began his military service three months ago, and while he was home on leave, he was killed during the protests.

Momen's father, Obeid Zandkarimi, stated in the video that his son was killed by government forces firing directly at him. Hengaw published the video on Twitter.
