A 31-year-old Kurdish citizen from Sarpol-e Zahab city in Kermanshah province named Ramin Karami, who was seriously injured during the protests, died after being hospitalized for several days due to his severe injuries.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on October 20, 2022, the Iranian security forces informed the family of Ramin Karami to receive his body in Kermanshah.

According to one of the relatives of the Karami family, "the Iranian security agencies told the Karami family that their son was shot during the protests on the evening of Wednesday, October 12, 2022, and died after being hospitalized for a few days."

This source also stated that the Iranian security forces had threatened the Karami family with a fine of 700 million tomans ($24,000) if the news that their son had been shot to death appeared in the media. As a result, they had agreed to hand over Ramin's body to his family under the pretext that he had suffered a heart attack.

"We just know that Ramin Karami has disappeared since Wednesday," a different relative of the Karami family said to Hengaw. "We had no information about him. The security forces did not disclose where he was shot, how many days he was hospitalized, or in which hospital he was hospitalized."

It should be noted that Ramin Karami's burial service was held at the Dawood General Cemetery in Sarpol-e Zahab on Thursday, October 20, 2022. A number of security forces were present during his funeral and recorded videos of the attendees.
