Kurdish teen committed suicide, relative says poverty caused the tragic death

Hengaw – Tanya Ebrahimpour was only 5-years-old when her mother committed suicide. Eight years later on November 12^th 2017 she decided to end her life, too and a relative says poverty was the reason, said Hengaw reporter on Monday.   The 13-years-old Kurdish girl hanged herself inside their house. She was living with her father in the villege of Dolabi in the border-city of Sardasht, Northwest of Iran.   One of Ebrahimpour’s relatives, who talked to Hengaw on condition of anonymity, explained that the girl’s family were living under poverty and she was facing harsh life condition. “She hanged herself using her father’s Shaal (Kurdish belt),” the source added.   Iran’s Kurdish cities and towns are considered one of the regions with the highest rate of poverty.   According to Hengaw archive reports, at least 50 Kurdish women and girls have committed suicide since March, 2017.
