Wave of Kurdish arrests continues: Seyed Kamal Ebrahimi detained in Naqadeh, Younes Tanhaei in Mahabad

The wave of arrests targeting Kurdish people across Iran continues. In recent days, Seyed Kamal Ebrahimi, from Naqadeh, and Younes Tanhaei, from Mahabad, have been detained by agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Intelligence Department and transferred to undisclosed locations.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Seyed Kamal Ebrahimi, 31, a resident of Naqadeh, nurse, and university lecturer at the Mahabad School of Nursing, was arrested at his workplace by intelligence agents on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Three days after his detention, no information has been made available regarding his whereabouts or condition.
In a separate case, on Wednesday, June 18, Younes Tanhaei, a father of two and resident of the village of Hamzeh Abad, near Mahabad, was also arrested by intelligence forces and taken to an unknown location. His fate remains unknown several days after the arrest.
Despite repeated inquiries by Tanhaei’s family, authorities have yet to provide any information regarding his status, location of detention, or reasons for his arrest.
According to informed sources, both arrests were carried out without the presentation of arrest warrants.
No official details have been released concerning the reasons for the arrests or the charges brought against these Kurdish men.
