During last week's protests, Mahabad resident Peyman Gulabi was seriously injured by direct fire from security forces. His fate and whereabouts remain unknown following his arrest.
Peyman Gulabi, a veterinarian and graduate student in architecture, was shot near his home on the evening of Wednesday, October 12, 2022, and then abducted by security forces, according to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
An eyewitness states that "Peyman Gulabi, who was already gravely injured, was beaten by security forces before being transferred to an unknown location."
In this regard, one of the Gulabi's relatives said to Hengaw, "Over the past week, we have been contacted three times by hospitals in Mahabad, Urmia, and Miandoab. For the purpose of treatment and discharge from the hospital, the amounts of 4,500,000 tomans, 8,000,000 tomans, and 4 million and 500 thousand tomans have been requested. However, despite the payment of these amounts, they have not yet allowed us to visit him. "
Furthermore, this source stated: "We received the bank account information of an IRGC member from the Mahabad and Miandoab hospitals, and we transferred the cash into his account. Additionally, we deposited money into Urmia Hospital's bank account."
"We have been informed through our acquaintances that Peyman suffered injuries in his legs, right hand, nose, chin, and teeth. While he needs medical attention, he is in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Mahabad, and he is under custody," Peyman's brother Aso Gulabi told Hengaw.
