Afshin Rashidi and Fuad Faruqi, civil activists from Baneh who had previously spent a period of detention, were sentenced to prison by the judicial system.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Afshin Rashidi was sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment and Fuad Faruqi to six months of suspended imprisonment, each for two years, by the 1st Branch of the Saqqez Revolutionary Court.

According to an informed source, the two civil rights activists have been sentenced to prison by Judge Akbar Mirzaei on charges of "acting against national security."

Afshin Rashidi and Fuad Faruqi were arrested by government agencies on Monday, April 25, 2022, on the eve of International Labor Day.

With a bail of 300 million tomans each, Afshin Rashidi and Fuad Faruqi were temporarily released from detention on Monday, May 16, 2022, and Saturday, June 18, respectively.
