A man from Saqqez, named Mukhtar Fathi, was killed by direct fire from the police forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran for "writing a slogan," and his family was threatened by government institutions not to publish the news.
According to the report received by the Hengaw organization for human rights, on Saturday, February 18, 2023, Mukhtar Fathi, a man from Saqqez, near his parents' house and while he was in a car with two other friends, was shot and killed by the security forces.
According to an informed source, a car belonging to Saqqez 12 Police Station stopped next to the car in which Mukhtar Fathi was sitting, and one of the armed forces got out and started shooting at Mukhtar from a distance of two meters.
It is worth mentioning that the police car immediately left the place, and with the help of the people, Mukhtar Fathi's body was taken to Shafa Hospital.
This source, who did not want to be named for security reasons, told Hengaw: "Government institutions have announced that Mukhtar Fathi was writing slogans during the past nights and was identified, but after two hours, they told his family that we made a mistake, and they have threatened that they should not talk to the media about this."
Mukhtar Fathi was married and had a pregnant wife; he is originally from the village of Darian, Saqqez, and a resident of Saqqez.
