Arwin Nikpay's detention order was extended by Mariwan's intelligence department

The detention of Arwin Nikpay, a 20-year-old resident of the village of Ney in Mariwan, has been extended for another month after 75 days in custody.

The detention of Arwin Nikpay, a 20-year-old resident of the village of Ney in Mariwan, has been extended for another month after 75 days in custody. 

According to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the local intelligence agency extended Nikpay’s detention order on Monday, April 17, 2023. 

According to Hengaw sources, Arwin Nikpay spent one month in custody at the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center before being transferred to the Mariwan Intelligence Detention Center. 

During his detention and interrogation period, Nikpay was reportedly denied access to a lawyer and visitation. Nikpay was initially detained on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, by Iranian authorities in the city of Mariwan and was transferred to the local prison within 24 hours.
