Matin Kahlilbaigi, an Oshnovieh resident, committed suicide as a result of abuse from his family and social pressures.

According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Matin Khalilbaigi, a 24-year-old from Oshnovieh and a member of the LGBTQ community, committed suicide due to mental illness brought on by his family's and society's abuse of him.

Mateen Khalilbeigi has been disputing with his family about his sexuality frequently lately, and it is obvious that he was depressed and has experienced extreme social isolation, Mateen Khalilbaigi's friend told Hengaw.

Hengaw has consistently warned of the difficult circumstances facing the LGBTQ+ community. The physical and psychological integrity of these people in Iran is seriously threatened by their refusal to embrace their identity in accordance with familial and social expectations, and legal restrictions have further increased the pressure and violence directed at them.
