Ahmadreza Haeri, a political prisoner currently incarcerated in Evin Prison, has recently been handed another sentence of three months and one day of imprisonment in a new case initiated by the Tehran correctional institutions.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, on June 21, 2023, during an absentia hearing at the Tehran Criminal Court, Ahmadreza Haeri, a political prisoner from Ilam, was charged with "spreading disinformation" and sentenced accordingly.

Mr. Haeri was apprehended and taken to Evin Prison on May 11, 2023, to commence a three-year and eight-month detention term. The sentence was issued by the Tehran Revolutionary Court in August 2022, charging him with "conspiracy and plotting against national security."

Prior to his recent arrest, Ahmadreza Haeri, a political activist, had been detained on June 27, 2022, by the intelligence forces of the Revolutionary Guards at his residence. He was temporarily released later that year, in July, upon posting a bail of 1 billion tomans. It is important to note that Mr. Haeri had also been arrested and incarcerated in 2014.
