The fate of Pishtiwan Afsar, a Kurdish citizen from Marivan who was arrested by Iranian government forces four months ago, and the fate of his sister Asrin Afsar, who was also arrested 28 days ago, remain unknown since their arrest.
According to information received by the Hangaw Organization for Human Rights, Asrin and Pishtiwan Afsar, two members of a family from the village of "Ney" in Marivan, are currently detained under unknown circumstances.
According to reliable sources close to Afsar’s family, Pishtiwan Afsar was arrested four months ago and subsequently transferred to the detention facility of the IRGC's intelligence department in Sanandaj.
Also, Asrin Afsar is enduring her 28th day of detention at the detention facility of the Intelligence Department in Sanandaj.
According to the source, Asrin Afsar has been deprived of face-to-face meetings with her family and access to a lawyer during her entire detention period. She only had the opportunity to inform her family about her arrest by the Iranian Intelligence forces through a single phone call.
Additionally, Pishtiwan Afsar, who is currently detained at the IRGC's intelligence detention center known as Shahramfar camp in Sanandaj, is being deprived of the right to make phone calls, receive visitors, and access a lawyer.
Pishtiwan Afsar was arrested in March 2022 by the IRGC intelligence forces, and Asrin Afsar was detained on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, by the Iranian Intelligence forces, and they’re both still in custody.
Pishtiwan Afsar was arrested during the November 2019 protests and subsequently released on bail after one month. However, he was ultimately sentenced to five years in prison by the Iranian judiciary, and On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, he was arrested again and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve his sentence. He was later released on parole
