Four men from Semirom in Isfahan Province — Fazel Bahramian, Mehran Bahramian, Younes Bahramian, and Dariush Saeedi — all previously detained during the "Woman, Life, Freedom” (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement, have been re-arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. All four had been handed heavy sentences, including the death penalty for two of them, before being temporarily released on bail. Their sudden rearrest has fueled serious concerns over the possible imminent execution of Fazel and Mehran Bahramian.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, July 30, 2025, security forces raided the homes of the four men, arresting them and transferring them to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

The four were initially detained during the 2022 “Women, Life, Freedom” movement. Fazel and Mehran Bahramian were sentenced to death, while Younes Bahramian and Dariush Saeedi each received 16 years in prison. In February 2024, the Semirom Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Tavakoli, upheld the sentences in full. They were released on bail in February 2025.

The latest arrests came after their participation in the 40th-day memorial ceremony for three victims of the uprising — Ali Abbasi, Morad Bahramian, and Moslem Houshangi — who were shot dead by security forces in Semirom in November 2022. During the memorial, a Basij member named Mohsen Rezaei was also killed.

Fazel Bahramian was first arrested on December 31, 2022, when security forces stormed his home. His brother, Mehran Bahramian, was detained shortly afterward. Both were held in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center and later in Ward A of Dastgerd Prison, where they endured severe physical and psychological torture until March 18, 2023.

In February 2024, following the issuance of these sentences, merchants and shopkeepers in Semirom went on strike, demanding the immediate cancellation of the death penalties against Fazel and Mehran Bahramian.

Their re-arrest has once again heightened fears that the executions of Fazel and Mehran Bahramian may be imminent.
