Iranian forces arrest former political prisoner Zanko Mohammadi in Bukan

Zanko Mohammadi, a former political prisoner from Bukan, has been violently re-arrested by agents of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, Mohammadi, a former political prisoner from the village of AliKand in the Bukan region, was detained with the use of force by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Bukan and taken to an unknown location.

Sources familiar with the case reported that the arrest was carried out without the presentation of an arrest warrant.

Mohammadi, whose full name is Zanko (Seyed Hossein) Mohammadi, was previously arrested on July 13, 2018, and later sentenced by Branch 102 of the Bukan Criminal Court to 30 months in prison on charges of “membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran.”

No confirmed details are available regarding the reasons for his arrest, his place of detention, or the charges brought against him.
