Iranian authorities opened fire on protesters, injured and detained several during a Raid in Ilam

In the city of Ilam, a law enforcement operation involving special tactics units and municipal authorities was conducted to demolish three residential homes located on the northern suburb of the city. As a result of this raid, several residents sustained injuries, while six individuals were detained by the authorities. The injured individuals were identified as Farideh Hajian, Abbas Pourdavoud, Pouya Pourdavoud, and Shamsaldin Ghaisari. The detainees are as follow, Elahe Valizadeh, Morad Ansari, Morteza Havasi, Shayan Aziznejad, Yaser Ghasemi, and Rouhollah Zarei.
 

According to reports obtained by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, this incident took place on Monday evening, 24th of July, 2023. Government law enforcement and municipal forces converged on “Haft-e Tir” Street in Ilam, with the aim of demolishing residential homes, an action that elicited a strong reaction and resistance from local residents.
 

During the following clashes, at least four citizens were confirmed to have sustained injuries, specifically Farideh Hajian, Abbas Pourdavoud, Pouya Pourdavoud, and Shamsaldin Ghaisari, who were wounded by gunshots directly fired by government forces.
 

Furthermore, at least six other citizens, Elahe Valizadeh, Morad Ansari, Morteza Havasi, Shayan Aziznejad, Yaser Ghasemi, and Rouhollah Zarei were apprehended during the course of the raid,Based on the footage acquired by Hengaw indicated that government forces also deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd during the incident.
