Hengaw has been informed that 46 Kurdish citizens who were arrested in Agh Dareh village have been transferred to the detention centers of Iranian security institutions in Urmia.
These citizens were arrested during the protest against the policies that do not allow the employment of local people in the Agh Dareh gold mine.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the 46 arrested Kurdish citizens from Agh Dareh village of Takab, West Azerbaijan(Urmia) province, were transferred to the detention centers of Iranian security institutions in Urmia.
Earlier, Hengaw announced the arrest of at least 50 citizens during the protests of the citizens of Aghdara against the policies that do not allow the employment of local people in the Agh Dareh gold mine and confirmed the identity of 29 of them.
Also, during the Iranian government forces’ attack which was to suppress the protesters, at least three Kurdish citizens named Nasser Bahramian, Hojat Momenzadeh, and Armin Nikzad were severely injured and were transferred to Urmia and Zanjan hospitals due to their deteriorating physical condition.
In this regard, Reza Mozaffar, the police commander of Takab city, called the protesting citizens "disturbers of order and security" and announced they were "arrested" for "holding an illegal aggregation".
At the same time, Mehdi Taghizadeh, the public prosecutor Iranian Islamic revolutionary court judge in Takab, while confirming the arrest of the protesters, claimed that "a judicial case has been filed against the perpetrators."
In the early hours of the morning on Monday, July 31, 2023, the Iranian government forces attacked the village of Agh Dareh and in addition to arresting at least 50 citizens and injuring three others with direct fire, they caused considerable damage to the houses, properties, and cars belonging to the residents of this village.
