More than 15 citizens from Mahabad and Oshnavieh were arrested by the Iranian authorities, including four young people from Mahabad, Sherko Nasiri, Hiwa Shebang, Ashkan Rasouli, and Hidayat Khasteh, as well as two people, Sherwan Khzri and Ayoub Mirzaei, from Oshnavieh.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, four people from Mahabad, Sherko Nasiri, a father of two, along with Hiwa Shebang, Ashkan Rasouli, and Hidayat Khasteh, were detained by the Intelligence Department forces in the early hours of Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
On the same day, Sherwan Khzri and Ayoub Mirzaei, both from the "Bimzortah" village of Oshnavieh County, were also detained and taken into custody by the Iranian authorities.
According to a reliable source, the arrests occurred during an Iranian government-forced raid into their residences, carried out without any judicial authorization. Also, the source indicated that the mobile phones of Ashkan Rasouli, Hedayat Khasteh, and Hiwa Shebang were confiscated.
The sources of the Hengaw Organization from Mahabad have reported that at least 13 other citizens were also arrested alongside these individuals and taken to the government detention centers in Urmia City.
Until further notice, the charges against the arrested individuals, including Sherko Nasiri, Hiwa Shebang, Ashkan Rasouli, Hedayat Khasteh, Sherwan Khzri, and Ayoub Mirzaei, remain unknown; furthermore, the details regarding their location and current condition have yet to be disclosed.
