Hengaw: Sunday, September 3, 2023

As the anniversary of the Jin, Jiyan, and Azadi movement approaches, the Irani. authorities and security institutions have increased pressure on the plaintiff families and in this regard, they notified the family of Mohammad Arian Khoshgowar that they should stop pursuing their complaint.

According to Hengaw, Hassan Asgari, one of the former commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Kurdistan and the current governor of Sanandaj, contacted the family of the Mohammad Arian Khoshgowar and threatened them to withdraw from any follow-up and complaints in return for the ransom. Otherwise, they will face security consequences.

According to the documents that are available to Hengaw, despite filing a complaint in court, this plaintiff's family was informed that the case was declared closed without any effective measures or investigation.

According to a source close to this family, Mohammad Arian Khoshgowar’s family, despite the threats, is not willing to accept the offer for a ransom and withdraw the compliment.

Mohammad Arian Khoshgowar, an 18-year-old young Kurdish man from Sanandaj, was injured with knives and batons by the Iranian security forces on November 17, 2022, during protests in this city.

This young protester finally died on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, after 4 months of hospitalization in Kosar Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

Hengaw confirms that in the cities of Kurdistan, the judiciary does not enjoy minimum judicial independence, and especially in security cases, the issue is completely investigated according to the wishes of the Iranian security institutions. During the past few days, the Chief Justice of Kurdistan, outside of his jurisdiction, started threatening citizens in case of any possible protest on the anniversary of the murder of Jina Amini.

The documents of the case show that the investigation was started by the Assistant Prosecutor of the First Branch of the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces in Kurdistan and that the relevant prosecutor requested the Sanandaj Police Command to investigate and obtain medical documents from Kosar Hospital and Sanandaj Forensic Medicine.

But what has been ascertained so far for Hengaw is that none of the Assistant prosecutor’s inquiries have been answered due to the retention of the case by security agents (IRGC Intelligence Organization). Finally, due to the pressure of the Iranian security officers, the case has been declared closed without any specific results.
