Faramarz Javidzad, an Iranian-American citizen and Jewish prisoner incarcerated in Evin Prison, has tragically passed away as a result of being denied prompt medical care and due to the negligence of prison authorities.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Faramarz Javidzad, a 63-year-old resident of Los Angeles, USA, who was suffering from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and bleeding, passed away due to the absence of adequate medical care while in Evin Prison.
According to an informed source, this dual-citizen prisoner was transferred to the clinic at Evin Prison on the evening of Friday, September 22, of this year, as his health was deteriorating. Despite the urgency of his condition, he did not receive the necessary medical treatment and was subsequently moved to the prison’s general ward after a brief period.
It is worth noting that, prior to this tragic incident, despite the judge of the case approving Faramarz Javidzad’s transfer to medical facilities outside the prison for treatment, this action was obstructed by officials’ disobedience of the order.
In March 2022, Faramarz Javidzad was arrested based on a complaint filed by the “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order.” After spending three months in solitary confinement in Ward 209 of Evin Prison, which is renowned as the detention center of the intelligence department, he was eventually relocated to the prison’s general ward.
