Mohammad Hassan Nooti-Zehi, an inmate on death row held at Mashhad Central Prison, succumbed to a severe health crisis caused by a heart attack. His condition had reached a critical state while he was detained at the prison, and due to a lack of timely medical treatment, he lost his life.

According to reports received by the Hengaw organization for Human Rights, on Monday, October 9th, 2023, Mohammad Hassan Nooti Zehi, a 39-year-old from the village of "Cheshme Ziarat” in Zahedan, suffered a stroke while incarcerated in Mashhad. Despite the urgent need for medical attention, his condition deteriorated significantly as prison authorities delayed his transfer to a proper healthcare facility.

This inmate, a father of four, lost his life two hours after arriving at the prison's limited healthcare facilities, which are equipped only for basic first aid and lack the necessary medical staff and equipment to address severe conditions like heart attacks.

It is important to note that Mohammad Hassan Nooti Zehi was arrested nearly two years ago in the city of Tabas, South Khorasan province, for drug trafficking. He was sentenced to death with a one-degree reduction by the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad.
