Arrest of Two Female Journalists in Rasht by Security Forces

Nasim Tavafzadeh and Halaleh Natigeh, distinguished journalists and environmental activists, were apprehended by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Rasht. The detainees were subsequently transported to an undisclosed location.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Nasim Tavafzadeh, the director of the "Mrur" news site and head of the Sabzekaran Balan Environmental Institute, was taken into custody by the intelligence department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on November 11, 2023.
Simultaneously, Halaleh Natigeh, an environmental reporter for the Mrur news outlet and a member of the Sabzekaran Balan Environmental Institute, also faced arrest.
Nasim Tavafzadeh, known for her contributions as a writer, social activist, and environmental advocate, alongside her husband, has been actively involved in environmental initiatives in the Gilan region, focusing particularly on waste management.
