Kosar Rostamnejad, a 41-year-old Kurdish Kolbar (porter) from Paveh, was shot and severely wounded in the eye by Iranian border guards. He has now been transferred to a medical facility in Tehran for eye surgery and further treatment.

According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Kosar Rostamnejad, hailing from the village of Shamshir in Paveh, suffered direct gunshots, resulting in severe injuries to his head, eye, and hand.

Due to the gravity of the eye injury, he was urgently transported from Kermanshah to a medical center in Tehran for eye surgery and specialized care. Hengaw sources highlight that shotgun pellets caused extensive damage to Mr. Rostamnejad's eye, prompting doctors at Taleghani Hospital to determine the need for eye surgery.

Earlier reports from Hengaw had detailed that this Kolbar, injured on Friday, was initially taken to Taleghani Hospital in Kermanshah, where his condition was described as critical.

Kosar Rostamnejad, a father of two, has previously endured injuries while working as a porter across the border in the spring of 2021, inflicted by government armed forces. Additionally, his brother, Farshad, fell victim to border guards' gunfire last year, suffering severe injuries and ultimately becoming paralyzed in the spinal cord.
