Imposing imprisonment for three civic activists from Saqez, Iran

Hengaw: Three civic activists identified as Meqdad Hassannejad, 27, Mohammad Salimi, 28, and Zamaneh Zivieh, 29, who was detained by security forces in February 2022. In a joint case, they have been sentenced to a total of 27 months in prison on charges of "Membership in a Kurdish opposition party" by branch one of the Revolutionary Court of Saqez, headed by Javad Mostafaei. 
 
According to the judicial decision, which was officially announced to them on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, Mohammad Salimi has been sentenced to 11 months, Meqdad Hassannejad to 6 months, and Zamaneh Zivieh to 10 months in prison. 
  
It is worth mentioning that another accused in this case, Kaveh Rashidzadeh, the husband of Zamaneh Zivieh, has been acquitted of the charges. 
  
These three civic activists were arrested by intelligence service forces of Saqez in February 2022. Meqdad Hassannejad and Zamaneh Zivieh were released temporarily after one month and Mohammad Salimi after two months, each on a bail of 300 million Tomans. 
 
It is worth mentioning that these three citizens were deprived of the right to access a lawyer and also to visit their families during their detention.
