Kurdish prisoner , Sherko Agushi released on bail after 18 months in detention

Hengaw : A Kurdish citizen from Piranshahr district of West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province in Iranian Kurdistan has been temporarily released on bail  after 18 months being in IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia and Naghadeh Central Prison.

According to a report received by Hengaw  Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, Sherko Agushi, a Kurdish citizen from Piranshahr, was released on bail of 500 million Tomans (USD20000) after 18 months of detention.

According to an informed source, this Kurdish citizen was recently sentenced by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Piranshahr to 5 years in prison on charges of collaborating and membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

The source further stated that Sherko Agushi was also accused of fighting with Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards forces and his court hearing on this charge will be held in Mahabad.

Sherko Agoshi was transferred to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Urmia on Saturday, August 31, 2019, after being wounded and arrested by Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards forces.

Kaveh Agoshi, Sherko’s father, was also arrested by Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards on Friday, August 30, 2019, at the same time as his other son, identified as "Sadegh Agushi", was killed.
