Report from March to March, arresting of 38 women issuance of imprisonment verdict for 7 women activists and execution of 4 women in Kurdistan

Hengaw: Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on the occasion of international women's day publishes a statistical report on the arresting of Kurdish women and issuance of verdict for them and execution of Kurdish women during the last year.

According to the statistics recorded in statistics center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, from March 2019 til March 2020, at least 38 Kurdish women have been detained by Iranian security agencies. Moreover, 7 Kurdish women have been sentenced to prison by Iranian judicial system and 4 Kurdish women have been executed in Iran's prisons.

 

Arresting of 38 women

Over the past year at least 38 women have been detained in different cities of Kurdistan by Iranian security agencies that the most of them were due to political activities and Kurdistan province had the highest number of arresting women with 18 cases.

Three of women among the total have been arrested two times over the past year.

Cause of arresting:

Political activities: 25 cases equivalent to 66% of the total numbers

Civil activities: 11 cases equivalent to 32% of the total numbers

Due to the activity of other members of family: 2 cases equivalent to 2% of the total numbers

 

Division by province:

Kurdistan province (Sanandaj): 18 cases

West Azarbayejan province (Urumiyeh): 13 cases

Kermanshah province: 5 cases

Ilam province: 1 case

Lorestan province: 1 case

Mazandaran: 1 case

 

Issuance of imprisonment verdict

According to the registered statistics in the statistics center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, From March 2019 to March 2020, at least 7 Kurdish women activists have been sentenced to the total of 20 years and 9 months imprisonment.

According to the report, these women activists have been sentenced to imprisonment in charge of political activities and cooperation with the Kurdish opposition parties of Iranian government.

 

Execution

Over the past year, at least four women have been executed in the prisons of Sanandaj, Mahabad and Urumiyeh.

All these women had been sentenced to death in charge of murder by Iranian judiciary system.
